My husband had to crawl under the night table to discover this and came back up with many hairs on his shirt. The final straw was discovering in the light of day that the outlet problems in the room were because of a tangle of power strips pluggedinto one another had been switched off. Our ”comped” breakfast because of the long wait for our room did not cover the drinks, which we found out after we had already drunk them. ![]() The next morning we additionally found that the fan in the bathroom did not work and the floor to the tub was very soft and spongy, making us wonder if the tub was installed wrong or the ”historic” floor was rotting away beneath us. Being the typical family with an 11 year old son we have a lot of things to charge so thank goodness I remembered to bring our multi usb charger. Later that night we discovered that there was only one working outlet in the room. Once finally in the room it appeared fine other than a lot of chipped paint and very dirty windows. The hassle began right away when we were told at 4:30 that is would be a 45 minute wait to get into a room because there were no clean ones available. For me, maybe even again if we are in the Scranton area.Scranton | 3km from Houdini Museum, Tour & Magic Show WEEKENDS We stayed at this hotel for one night during our trip to Steamtown (which is amazing!). At the juncture I could not tell you how long we were there. I personally judge visits like this one by how frequently I look at my watch. True or not the show was very entertaining and well worthwhile. The tour is capped off with a show performed by a magician that is said to be among the 10 highest rated in the world. The rest is as enjoyable as you make it looking at show advertisements, photographs and props. To see the water tank leading to his death and hearing the true details was a high point particularly when told by someone that knew him personally. To fully appreciate it one must search for items that stand out looking them over carefully before transferring attention to something else. In one respect the Houdini Museum was like most except more cluttered. known only as a place we passed through on our way to N.Y. Frankly we were not so excited to discover it was Scranton, Pa. We were not told of the destination until the bus departed. ![]()
